Very important is a road loss of third ranked Giants (14-7) against tenth ranked Wuerzburg (8-13) on Saturday night. Visiting Giants were defeated by Wuerzburg in Wuerzburg 82-64. It ended at the same time the six-game winning streak of Giants. Wuerzburg dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Giants' 30. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 27 assists comparing to just 13 passes made by Giants' players. Maximilian Ugrai (202-95) nailed a double-double by scoring 21 points, 14 rebounds and 8 assists for the winning side and American guard Travis Smith (190-91, college: Mercer) accounted for 23 points and 5 rebounds. Wuerzburg's coach Peter Guenschel allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. American forward Jordan Talbert (198-91, college: Missouri So.) came up with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 11 rebounds and the other American import guard Brandon Lockhart (185-90, college: Drury) added 14 points respectively for Giants in the defeat. Four Giants players scored in double figures. Wuerzburg moved-up to ninth place in South. Newly promoted Giants keep the third position with seven games lost. Wuerzburg's next round opponent will be higher ranked USC Leipzig (#7) at home and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Giants will play against Titans (#5) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
