Regular Season Round 29: Dzukija - Vytautas 77-79

Tenth-ranked Dzukija (6-20) gave a tough game to fourth ranked Vytautas (14-12) in Alytus on Saturday. The visitors from Prienai managed to secure only two-point victory 79-77. However their fans expected much easier game. Dzukija was trailing by 3 points at halftime but managed to get 1-point lead after three quarters before a 23-20 charge of Vytautas, which allowed them to win the game. They made 24-of-28 free shots (85.7 percent) during the game. The best player for the winners was forward Laimonas Kisielius (203-85, college: William & Mary) who scored 18 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. Guard Vytautas Sulskis (200-88, college: Youngstown St., agency: Octagon Europe) chipped in 18 points and 9 rebounds. Four Vytautas players scored in double figures. Power forward Julius Jucikas (205-89) produced 27 points (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field) and the former international point guard Arvydas Eitutavicius (188-82, college: American) added 16 points respectively for the hosts. Dzukija's coach Andrej Urlep tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Vytautas. They moved-up to third place, which they share with Neptunas. Loser Dzukija stay at the bottom position with 20 games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
