Regular Season Round 25: Hanau - Hamburg 71-77

No shocking result in a game in Hanau where fifth ranked Hamburg (15-10) won against 12th ranked White Wings (10-15) 77-71 on Saturday. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 26-18. But White Wings won second period 18-16. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Hamburg made 17-of-22 free shots (77.3 percent) during the game. Point guard Anthony Canty (183-91, agency: Octagon Europe) stepped up and scored 10 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners and American power forward Robert Ferguson (203-85, college: St.Joseph's) chipped in 18 points. Hamburg's coach Hamed Attarbashi used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the losing side American guard Miles Jackson-Cartwright (190-92, college: Pennsylvania) responded with 19 points and 7 assists and forward Robin Christen (202-91) scored 14 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. The victory was the third consecutive win for Hamburg. They maintain fifth place with 15-10 record. Newly promoted White Wings keep the twelfth position with 15 games lost. Hamburg will face Nuernberg (#7) in Nurnberg in the next round. White Wings will play on the road against Koeln Rh.Stars (#11) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
