Not a big story in a game when 3rd placed Kirchheim Knights (18-8) were rolled over at home by first ranked Science City Jena (22-3) 98-56 on Saturday. The game without a history. Science City Jena led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Kirchheim Knights' 16 and made 20-of-26 free shots (76.9 percent) during the game. Science City Jena looked well-organized offensively handing out 36 assists comparing to just 15 passes made by Kirchheim Knights' players. Kirchheim Knights were plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. American guard Marcos Knight (188-89, college: Middle Tenn.St.) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 21 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners and forward Julius Wolf (202-93) chipped in 17 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Five Science City Jena players scored in double figures. At the losing side forward Tim Koch (196-89) responded with 13 points (made all of his eight free throws) and naturalized Albanian guard Besnik Bekteshi (189-93) scored 12 points. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Science City Jena maintains first place with 22-3 record. Kirchheim Knights at the other side dropped to the fourth position with eight games lost. Science City Jena will face BV Chemnitz 99 (#10) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Kirchheim Knights will play against Finke Baskets (#13) in Paderborn and hope to win that game.
