Rather predictable result in Leverkusen where thirteenth ranked Finke Baskets (9-16) defeated 15th ranked Bayer Giants (5-20) 61-55 on Sunday. American point guard Steven Bennett (170-88, college: Chaminade) stepped up and scored 17 points for the winners and swingman Phillip Daubner (203-94) chipped in 10 points and 6 rebounds. Bennett is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. At the losing side Goetz Twiehoff (198-85) responded with 14 points and 6 rebounds and American guard Drew Brandon (193-92, college: E.Washington) scored 12 points and 4 assists. Bayer Giants' coach Achim Kuczmann rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Finke Baskets maintains thirteenth place with 9-16 record. Bayer Giants at the other side keep the fifteenth position with 20 games lost. Finke Baskets will face higher ranked Kirchheim Knights (#4) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Bayer Giants will play against Baunach (#9) and hope to win that game.
