Fifth-ranked Ovarense (4-9) made lots of trouble for Benfica (12-1) on Saturday. Benfica managed to secure only four-point victory 96-92. However their fans expected much easier game. Ovarense was tied after three quarters and then recorded another tie at the end of regular time. They were eventually defeated in overtime 15-19s. Benfica looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. Ovarense was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. The best player for the winners was the former international forward Carlos Andrade (197-78, college: Queens, NC) who scored 21 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists. American forward Frederick Gentry (201-77, college: McNeese St.) chipped in 13 points and 9 rebounds (perfect from the field making all six shots). American guard Joseph Harris (196-87, college: Co.Carolina, agency: HMS) produced a double-double by scoring 20 points, 19 rebounds and 4 assists and his fellow American import power forward Raven Barber (206, college: Mt.St.Mary's) added 20 points respectively for the guests. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Benfica will face Galitos-Tley (#4) in Barreiro in the next round. Ovarense will play on the road against FC Porto Ferpinta and hope to win that game.
