A very close game took place in Bayreuth between Giessen 46ers and BBC Bayreuth. Ninth ranked Giessen 46ers (12-11) got a very close victory on the road over 12th ranked BBC Bayreuth (9-15). Giessen 46ers managed to escape with a 2-point win 74-72 on Sunday evening. The guests started the game with a very strong first quarter 23-12. But BBC Bayreuth won second period 22-14. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Worth to mention a great performance of American guard Braydon Hobbs (196-89, college: Bellarmine) who helped to win the game recording 16 points and 8 rebounds and British center Gabriel Olaseni (211-91, college: Iowa, agency: Pensack Sports) who added 9 points and 5 rebounds during the contest. Giessen 46ers' coach Denis Wucherer used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. The best for the losing side was the former international center Andreas Seiferth (209-89) with 14 points and 6 rebounds and forward Steve Wachalski (202-83) scored 11 points and 6 rebounds. Four BBC Bayreuth players scored in double figures. Giessen 46ers have a solid four-game winning streak. Newly promoted Giessen 46ers maintains ninth position with 12-11 record. Loser BBC Bayreuth keeps the twelfth place with 15 games lost. They share the position with Telekom Bsk. Giessen 46ers will meet league's leader Brose Baskets in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. BBC Bayreuth will play against ratiopharm Ulm (#7) and hope to secure a win.
