Regular Season Round 28: Vechta - Baunach 74-70

Date: March 13, 2016
No shocking result in a game when second ranked SC Rasta Vechta (23-3) beat at home 7th ranked Baunach (13-15) 74-70 on Sunday. However just four-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Baunach won third quarter 20-14. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. SC Rasta Vechta dominated down low during the game scoring 46 of its points in the paint compared to Baunach's 26 and made 19-of-25 free shots (76.0 percent) during the game. It was a very good performance for naturalized Filipino forward Christian Standhardinger (203-89, college: Hawaii) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 19 points and 12 rebounds. American forward Derrick Allen (203-80, college: Mississippi) contributed with 10 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. SC Rasta Vechta's coach Andreas Wagner used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. Johannes Thiemann (203-94) replied with a double-double by scoring 19 points, 12 rebounds and 7 assists and point guard Daniel Schmidt (186-90) added 12 points and 4 assists in the effort for Baunach. Four Baunach players scored in double figures. SC Rasta Vechta have an impressive 16-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 23-3 record having 2 victories less than leader Jena. Baunach at the other side keeps the seventh place with 15 games lost. SC Rasta Vechta will face Bayer Giants (#15) in Leverkusen in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Baunach will play on the road against Oettinger Rockets Gotha (#3) and hope to win that game.
