Regular Season Round 26: Giessen 46ers - Crailsheim 83-79
Date: March 18, 2016
Very predictable result when ninth ranked Giessen 46ers (13-12) defeated at home bottom-ranked Crailsheim Merlins (5-21) 83-79 on Friday. However just four-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Crailsheim Merlins were trailing by 10 points at halftime but managed to get 1-point lead after three quarters before a 25-20 charge of Giessen 46ers, which allowed them to win the game. They made 17-of-22 free shots (77.3 percent) during the game. Crailsheim Merlins were plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. Nigerian-American power forward Suleiman Braimoh (203-89, college: Rice) scored 23 points and 7 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and American guard Eric Palm (188-87, college: McKendree, agency: I.D.S. Law) chipped in 21 points (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field) during the contest. American guard Antonio Graves (191-85, college: Pittsburgh) responded with 20 points and his fellow American import power forward Adam Chubb (208-81, college: Pennsylvania) scored 16 points and 6 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Newly promoted Giessen 46ers maintains ninth position with 13-12 record. Crailsheim Merlins lost eleventh consecutive game. They stay dead last with 21 lost games. Giessen 46ers will face Eisbaeren Bremerhaven (#14) on the road in the next round where they are favorite. Crailsheim Merlins will play against ratiopharm Ulm (#7) and hope to win that game.
