Second Stage Round 13: Lietkabelis-2 - Ezerunas-Karys 74-53

Bottom-ranked Lietkabelis-2 managed to get a eighth victory, breaking the series of six consecutive losses. This time newly promoted Lietkabelis-2 outleveled thirteenth-ranked Ezerunas-Karys in Panevezys 74-53. It's especially surprising that the victory came too easily and 21-point difference proves that Lietkabelis-2 was well-prepared to that game. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Ezerunas-Karys. The game was mostly controlled by Lietkabelis-2. Ezerunas-Karys was better in fourth quarter 22-6. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Lietkabelis-2 dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Ezerunas-Karys' 30. Lietkabelis-2 forced 21 Ezerunas-Karys turnovers. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. Guard Simonas Slivka (195-86) nailed 23 points for the winning side and forward Benas Bagdonavicius (202-91) accounted for 14 points and 5 rebounds. Lietkabelis-2's coach felt very confident that he used 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Forward Evaldas Baniulis (201-87, college: S.Carolina) came up with 13 points and 9 rebounds and Mantas Serksnas (202-96) added 10 points respectively for Ezerunas-Karys in the defeat. Newly promoted Lietkabelis-2 maintains fourteenth place with 8-30 record. Ezerunas-Karys at the other side keeps the thirteenth position with 25 games lost. Lietkabelis-2 will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Ezerunas-Karys will play at home against Petrochema (#9) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
