Very expected game when 8th ranked Nuernberg (13-16) was defeated on the road by fourth ranked Kirchheim Knights (21-9) 74-66 on Saturday. The hosts trailed by 4 points at the halftime before their 45-33 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Kirchheim Knights dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Nuernberg's 32. Kirchheim Knights forced 20 Nuernberg turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. American point guard Richard Williams (177-87, college: San Diego St.) stepped up and scored 13 points and 8 assists for the winners and his fellow American import forward Jordan Wild (203-88, college: Fresno Pacific) chipped in 13 points. Four Kirchheim Knights players scored in double figures. They dropped to the seventh position with 16 games lost. Kirchheim Knights will face bottom-ranked Dragons Rhoendorf (#16) at home in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Nuernberg will play against Gladiators (#6) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
