Second Stage Round 8: U-Banca TR - CSU Sibiu 74-81

Very important is a home loss of third ranked U-Banca TR (19-11) against sixth ranked CSU Sibiu (16-14) on Wednesday night. Host U-Banca TR was defeated by CSU Sibiu in a tough game in Cluj 74-81. U-Banca TR was ahead by 4 points at the halftime before a 24-11 third quarter run of CSU Sibiu. They outrebounded U-Banca TR 38-27 including 25 on the defensive glass. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. U-Banca TR was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. Worth to mention a great performance of American guard Kevin Hardy (188-93, college: McNeese St.) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 21 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists and the other American import forward Lawrence Gilbert (200-86, college: La-Monroe) who added 14 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists during the contest. Four CSU Sibiu players scored in double figures. American Kyndall Dykes (192-87, college: New Orleans) responded with 28 points and the former international center Adrian Gutoaia (197-90, agency: Court Side) scored 11 points and 8 rebounds. U-Banca TR's coach Marcel Tenter rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. CSU Sibiu moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Targu Mures. U-Banca TR at the other side keeps the third position with 11 games lost. CSU Sibiu will play against higher ranked Craiova (#4) at home in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. U-Banca TR will play against Targu Mures and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
