Regular Season Round 24: Istanbul BSB - Royal Hali 81-77

We should mention about the upset which took place in Istanbul, where higher ranked Royal Hali (13-11) lost to fourteenth ranked Istanbul BSB (8-16) in a road game 77-81 on Saturday. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Royal Hali. Royal Hali was trailing by 2 points at halftime but managed to get 2-point lead after three quarters before a 23-17 charge of Istanbul BSB, which allowed them to win the game. Royal Hali was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. The best player for the winners was Swedish-Croatian power forward Damir Markota (209-85, agency: XL Basketball Agency) who scored 14 points and 8 rebounds. American power forward Ben McCauley (206-86, college: N.Carolina St.) chipped in 16 points. At the other side the best for losing team was Slovenian forward Jure Balazic (204-80) who recorded 17 points and 5 rebounds and point guard Can Ugur Ogut (178-92) added 13 points and 5 assists respectively. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Istanbul BSB moved-up to twelfth place, which they share with TED Kolejliler and Yesilgiresun. Loser Royal Hali dropped to the seventh position with 11 games lost. Istanbul BSB will face league's second-placed Fenerbahce Ulker in Istanbul in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game.
