Regular Season Round 29: Tofas - Gediz 104-82

TBL top team - Tofas (27-2) had no problems winning another game on Sunday. This time they crushed fifth ranked Gediz (19-10) in Bursa 104-82. Tofas dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Gediz's 40 and made 20-of-26 free shots (76.9 percent) during the game. Tofas forced 21 Gediz turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists. Dominican-American guard Sammy Mejia (198-83, college: De Paul) orchestrated the victory by scoring 21 points and 5 rebounds. American power forward Jarvis Williams (203-93, college: Murray St.) contributed with 18 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Tofas' coach Orhun Ene felt very confident that he used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Power forward Orbay Kaya (205-82) answered with 22 points (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) and swingman Cihan Amasyali (191-83) added 16 points and 7 assists in the effort for Gediz. Four Tofas and five Gediz players scored in double figures. Tofas have a solid series of four victories in a row. They maintain first place with 27-2 record. Gediz at the other side dropped to the fourth position with ten games lost. They share it with Sakarya BSB. Tofas are looking forward to face Sakarya BSB (#4) in Sakaraya in the next round. Gediz will play at home against Afyon and is hoping to prove to their supporters that this time they can win.
