Second Stage Round 10: Steaua CSM - CSU Sibiu 90-74

Leader Steaua CSM delivered the twenty third victory. This time they beat 6th ranked CSU Sibiu (16-16) 90-74 in Bucuresti. It looked good early as CSU Sibiu took a 2-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then Steaua CSM had a 26-20 second period charge getting the lead and CSU Sibiu was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 74-90. Steaua CSM dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to CSU Sibiu's 30. They brought some defensive toughness making 9 blocks. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international Titus Nicoara (203-88, agency: Interperformances) who helped to win the game recording 22 points and 8 rebounds. Croatian guard Pankracije Barac (196-81, agency: Court Side) contributed with 19 points and 4 assists (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field) for the winners. Four Steaua CSM players scored in double figures. American forward Lawrence Gilbert (200-86, college: La-Monroe) replied with 12 points and 5 rebounds and his fellow American import guard Kevin Hardy (188-93, college: McNeese St.) added 10 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for CSU Sibiu. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Steaua CSM maintains first position with 23-9 record, which they share with Oradea. CSU Sibiu at the other side dropped to the fifth place with 16 games lost. They share the position with Targu Mures and Phoenix Galati.
