Rather expected game when 9th ranked Gmunden Swans (13-21) were defeated on the road by sixth ranked Raiffeisen Wels (16-18) 98-90 on Saturday. The hosts trailed by 2 points at the halftime before their 29-18 charge in the third quarter, which allowed them to win the game. Raiffeisen Wels made 17-of-21 free shots (81.0 percent) during the game. It was a great shooting night for Raiffeisen Wels especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 52.4 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Raiffeisen Wels made 7 blocks. The former international Davor Lamesic (205-83, agency: Interperformances) fired a double-double by scoring 33 points (!!!), 10 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. American guard DeJuan Wright (190-88, college: FIU, agency: Court Side) chipped in 26 points and 4 assists (perfect from downtown making all five shots). Naturalized German power forward Tilo Klette (206-77) produced 22 points and 7 rebounds and American guard Jarvis Ray (198-90, college: TCU) added 15 points and 8 rebounds respectively for lost side. Four Gmunden Swans players scored in double figures. Raiffeisen Wels have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain sixth position with 16-18 record, which they share with Furstenfeld. Loser Gmunden Swans keep the ninth place with 21 games lost. Raiffeisen Wels will meet higher ranked Arkadia Lions (#5) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Gmunden Swans will play against Vienna (#3) and hope to secure a win.
