Regular Season Round 35: UBSC Graz - Kapfenberg 80-88

There was no surprise when 9th ranked UBSC Graz (8-24) was defeated at home by seventh ranked Kapfenberg Bulls (14-17) 88-80 on Saturday. The guests started the game with a very strong first quarter 25-16. But UBSC Graz won third quarter 22-16. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. It was a great evening for American power forward Carl Baptiste (206-90, college: Delaware) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 12 rebounds. The former international forward Joe Dean Shaw (199-87, college: Nevada) helped adding 15 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. Lithuanian center Povilas Gaidys (208-91, college: Southeastern) responded with a double-double by scoring 31 points and 14 rebounds (was perfect 12-for-12 from the free throw line !!!) and the former international point guard Sebastian Schaal (189-90) scored 12 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists. Four UBSC Graz players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Kapfenberg Bulls have a solid series of four victories in a row. They maintain seventh place with 14-17 record. UBSC Graz lost ninth consecutive game. They keep the ninth position with 24 games lost. Kapfenberg Bulls will meet at home league's leader Redwell Gunners Oberwart in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. UBSC Graz will have a break next round.
