Very expected game when 9th ranked Academik Plovdiv (6-21) was defeated at home by second ranked Balkan (21-6) 93-75. The game was mostly controlled by Balkan. Academik Plovdiv was better in second period 18-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Academik Plovdiv was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. It was an exceptional evening for American guard Brandon Fortenberry (190-90, college: SE Louisiana, agency: Beo Basket) who led the winners and scored 17 points and 5 rebounds. Serbian power forward Dusan Cvetkovic (205-89, agency: Beo Basket) accounted for 17 points and 5 rebounds for the winning side. Balkan's coach Nebojsa Vidic used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Serbian power forward Bosko Jovovic (205-83) came up with 18 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists (went 10 for 10 at the free throw line !!!) and Serbian forward Aleksandar Mitrovic (201-90, agency: Interperformances) added 20 points respectively for Academik Plovdiv in the defeat. Balkan have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They maintain second place with 21-6 record having four points less than leader Lukoil Acad. Newly promoted Academik Plovdiv keeps the ninth position with 21 games lost.
