Regular Season Round 31: Phoenix Hagen - Ludwigsburg 75-88

No shocking result in a game when fifth ranked EnBW Ludwigsburg (22-8) beat on the road 11th ranked Phoenix Hagen (13-18) 88-75 on Friday. The game without a history. EnBW Ludwigsburg led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Phoenix Hagen's 16 and made 24-of-31 free shots (77.4 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Phoenix Hagen 50-20 including a 19-7 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was an exceptional evening for Finnish Shawn Huff (198-84, college: Valparaiso) who led the winners and scored 21 points and 5 rebounds. American point guard Kerron Johnson (185-90, college: Belmont) accounted for 14 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists (made all of his ten free throws !!!) for the winning side. Four EnBW Ludwigsburg players scored in double figures. EnBW Ludwigsburg's coach John Patrick used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. American point guard David Bell (187-81, agency: Three Eye Sports) came up with 22 points and 5 assists (made all of his ten free throws !!!) and the other American import point guard Brandon Jefferson (175-91, college: Metro St., agency: Two Points) added 13 points and 8 assists respectively for Phoenix Hagen in the defeat. EnBW Ludwigsburg moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Fraport SKY. Loser Phoenix Hagen dropped to the tenth position with 18 games lost. They share it with Braunschweig. EnBW Ludwigsburg will meet at home Giessen 46ers (#9) in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Phoenix Hagen will play against BG Goettingen and hope to secure a win.
