Regular Season Round 32: Ludwigsburg - Giessen 46ers 81-90

There was an upset when higher ranked EnBW Ludwigsburg (22-9) was defeated at home by ninth ranked Giessen 46ers (16-15) 90-81 on Sunday. The guests trailed by 8 points at the halftime before their 53-36 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Giessen 46ers made 17-of-20 free shots (85.0 percent) during the game. They shot the lights out from three sinking 13 long-distance shots on high 54.2 percentage. Giessen 46ers looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of British center Gabriel Olaseni (211-91, college: Iowa, agency: Pensack Sports) who helped to win the game recording 18 points and American guard Braydon Hobbs (196-89, college: Bellarmine) who added 11 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists during the contest. American forward Royce O'Neale (198-93, college: Baylor) responded with 22 points and 5 rebounds and his fellow American import Roderick Trice (185-84, college: S.Carolina) scored 13 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Newly promoted Giessen 46ers maintains ninth position with 16-15 record. Loser EnBW Ludwigsburg keeps the fifth place with nine games lost. Giessen 46ers will face BG Goettingen (#17) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. EnBW Ludwigsburg will play against Telekom Baskets (#13) in Bonn and hope to win that game.
