Rather predictable result in Weissenfels where Mitteldeutscher BC (2-0) defeated Baunach (0-2) 85-71 on Saturday. Mitteldeutscher BC forced 22 Baunach turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. Naturalized American forward Sergio Kerusch (195-89, college: W.Kentucky, agency: Octagon Europe) scored 22 points to lead the charge for the winners and American guard Andrew Warren (196-87, college: Bradley, agency: Interperformances) chipped in 16 points, 7 assists and 4 steals during the contest. Five Mitteldeutscher BC players scored in double figures. Slovenia point guard Aleksej Nikolic (190-95) responded with 28 points and 6 assists and center Leon Kratzer (212-97) produced a double-double by scoring 14 points and 13 rebounds. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Mitteldeutscher BC will face White Wings (#7) in Hanau in the next round where they are favorite. Baunach will play at home against Crailsheim Merlins (#6) and hope to win that game.
