The most important game of round 1 took place in Kapfenberg where Kapfenberg Bulls beat Arkadia Lions (0-1) 62-56 on Friday night. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 24-14. But Arkadia Lions won second period 20-11. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Kapfenberg Bulls won last quarter 15-11. American power forward Carl Baptiste (208-90, college: Delaware) stepped up and scored 23 points and 9 rebounds (made all of his seven free throws) for the winners and Filip Kramer (202-92) chipped in 12 points and 6 rebounds. At the losing side Argentinian-Italian forward Fabricio Vay (207-86, agency: Interperformances) responded with 17 points and 6 rebounds and Montenegrin center Milovan Draskovic (211-95, agency: Interperformances) scored 11 points and 8 rebounds. Arkadia Lions will play next round against strong Furstenfeld Panthers trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Kapfenberg Bulls will try to continue on its current victory against Gmunden Swans in Gmunden.
