Regular Season Round 6: Siauliai - Vytautas 60-97

Bottom-ranked Siauliai (0-5) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 97-60 loss to eighth ranked Vytautas (3-3) in Siauliai. The game without a history. Vytautas led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They made 26-of-33 charity shots (78.8 percent) during the game. Vytautas outrebounded Siauliai 44-31 including 31 on the defensive glass. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 23 assists. 26 personal fouls committed by Siauliai helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Forward Saulius Kulvietis (206-91) notched 16 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists to lead the effort and forward Arturas Valeika (207-85, college: Midland CC) supported him with 15 points and 5 rebounds. Four Vytautas players scored in double figures. Vytautas' coach Virginijus Seskus felt very confident that he used 11 players and allowed the starting five to rest. Even 15 points and 7 rebounds by Ghanian-American Asenso Ampim (203-88, college: Columbia, agency: Octagon Europe) did not help to save the game for Siauliai. Point guard Darius Gvezdauskas (191-88) added 15 points. Vytautas moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Nevezis and P.Zvaigzdes. Siauliai at the other side still closes the standings with five games lost. Vytautas' next round opponent will be higher ranked Lietkabelis (#3) in Panevezys and it may be the game of the week. Siauliai will play on the road against the league's second-placed Lietuvos rytas (#2) in Vilnius and hopes to get finally their first victory.
