Regular Season Round 3: Darussafaka - Gaziantep 81-56

Date: October 22, 2016
There was no surprise in Istanbul where Gaziantep (0-3) was outplayed by Darussafaka (2-1) 81-56 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Darussafaka. Gaziantep managed to win fourth quarter 21-17. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Darussafaka dominated down low during the game scoring 42 of its points in the paint compared to Gaziantep's 14 and made 18-of-21 free shots (85.7 percent) during the game. Darussafaka had a 30-19 advantage in offensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was American forward Will Clyburn (201-90, college: Iowa St.) who scored 16 points. The former international center Oguz Savas (212-87) chipped in 13 points and 5 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was Canadian-American guard Andrew Rautins (193-86, college: Syracuse) who recorded 17 points and 7 rebounds and Bulgaria power forward Dejan Ivanov (205-86, agency: BeoBasket) added 12 points and 8 rebounds respectively. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Darussafaka will meet Trabzonspor (#16) on the road in the next round which should be another easy win for them. Gaziantep will play against Galatasaray (#8) and looks forward to get finally their first victory.
