Regular Season Round 6: Nuernberg - Kirchheim 79-80

The most exciting game of round 6 in the ProA took place in Nurnberg. This derby game ended with only one-point home defeat of 11th ranked Nuernberg (2-4) to second ranked Kirchheim Knights (5-1) 80-79 on Saturday evening. Guest team only slightly avoided a big embarassment. Kirchheim Knights made 17-of-22 free shots (77.3 percent) during the game. Americans were the main players on the court. Forward Jonathon Williams (198-90, college: Wagner) scored 23 points and 6 rebounds (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field) to lead the charge for the winners and Seth Hinrichs (202-93, college: Lafayette, agency: Duran International) chipped in 15 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists during the contest. The best for the losing side was forward Dan Oppland (203-84, college: Valparaiso) with 18 points and 8 rebounds and point guard Diante Watkins (174-90, college: Robert Morris) scored 18 points and 5 assists. Four Nuernberg players scored in double figures. Kirchheim Knights keep a position of league leader, which they share with MBC and Chemnitz. Nuernberg lost third consecutive game. They keep the eleventh place with four games lost. Kirchheim Knights is looking forward to face Ehingen/Urspringschule (#14) in Allmendingen in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Nuernberg will play on the road against ETB Wohnbau in Essen and is hoping to prove to their fans that they can break losing series.
