Regular Season Round 5: Alexandria - Sirius TgM 88-51

Alexandria can celebrate their first win this season after three consecutive losses. They used home court advantage to defeat Sirius TgM (0-4) 88-51 on Saturday. The game without a history. Alexandria led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Sirius TgM to just 6 points in fourth quarter. Alexandria dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to Sirius TgM's 18. Alexandria forced 20 Sirius TgM turnovers and outrebounded them 37-18 including 25 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists comparing to just 7 passes made by Sirius TgM's players. The best player for the winners was swingman Alina Chivu (176-90) who scored 21 points and 6 assists. American point guard Shanita Arnold (165-89, college: Arizona, agency: Gamble Sports Management) chipped in 18 points and 7 assists. Five Alexandria players scored in double figures. American guard Cherise Daniel (180-87, college: Ohio St.) produced 17 points and the other American import forward Lauren Gregory (185-87, college: Vanguard) added 14 points and 6 rebounds respectively for the guests. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Alexandria (1-3) left bottom position moving up to seventh place, which they share with Iasi. It was Sirius TgM's fourth loss in a row. Newly promoted team still closes the standings with four games lost. Alexandria is looking forward to face bottom-ranked ICIM Arad (#10) on the road in the next round. Sirius TgM will play against the league's second-placed CSM Targoviste and will have a slim chance for a victory.
