Regular Season Round 6: Bochum - Schalke 81-71

Very predictable result in Bochum where fourth ranked AstroStars (4-2) beat 9th ranked Schalke (2-4) 81-71 on Saturday. AstroStars dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Schalke's 26 and made 16-of-21 free shots (76.2 percent) during the game. AstroStars looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The best player for the winners was forward Alexander Angerer (202-96) who scored 19 points and 5 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). American point guard Gary Johnson (188-82, college: Cent.Florida) chipped in 10 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists. Four AstroStars players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was American power forward Trent Weaver (203-94, college: Ohio Dominican) who recorded 22 points and 7 rebounds (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line) and his fellow American import guard Courtney Belger (188-89, college: Quincy) added 10 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line) respectively. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. AstroStars have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place in North, which they share with Iserlohn and Itzehoe. Newly promoted Schalke keeps the ninth position with four games lost. AstroStars will face Herzoege Wolfenbuettel (#8) on the road in the next round where they are favorite. Schalke will play against Rostock and hope to win that game.
