Regular Season Round 7: Bad Aibling - Vilsbiburg 97-84

No shocking result in a game when second ranked Bad Aibling (5-1) defeated at home 6th ranked Vilsbiburg (3-3) 97-84 on Saturday. Bad Aibling made 16-of-21 free shots (76.2 percent) during the game. Bad Aibling outrebounded Vilsbiburg 50-26 including a 37-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. Guard David Bergfeld (-88) fired a double-double by scoring 27 points and 14 rebounds for the winners. Swingman Malo Valerien (195-92) chipped in a double-double by scoring 19 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists. Four Bad Aibling players scored in double figures. Bad Aibling's coach Luca Burci used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American-Czech point guard John Boyer (185-88, college: Buffalo, agency: Dynamics Global Management) produced 37 points (!!!), 6 rebounds and 4 assists and American forward Billy McDonald (198-94, college: Caldwell) added 24 points and 6 rebounds respectively for lost side. Newly promoted Bad Aibling maintains second place in South-East with 5-1 record having just five point less than leader Stade, which they share with TSV Troester. Vilsbiburg lost their third game in a row. They dropped to the fifth position with three games lost. Bad Aibling will face Ansbach (#7) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Vilsbiburg will play against the league's leader Treuchtlingen and hope to win that game.
