Regular Season Round 8: Zwickau - Coburg 88-109

Everything went according to plan when fourth ranked Coburg (5-1) outplayed on the road 6th ranked Zwickau (3-4) 109-88 on Saturday. Coburg made 17-of-22 free shots (77.3 percent) during the game. Coburg outrebounded Zwickau 35-24 including 27 on the defensive glass. Forward Fabian Franke (198-88) orchestrated the victory by scoring 25 points and 8 rebounds. American forward Jordan Burris (201-92, college: CS San Bernar.) contributed with 18 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners. Coburg's coach Simon Bertram felt very confident that he used entire bench and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Guard Hendrik Bellscheidt (193-90) replied with 15 points and 4 assists and Russia swingman Kemal Velishaev (203-93) added 13 points and 5 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) in the effort for Zwickau. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Coburg have a solid four-game winning streak. They moved-up to third place in South-East, which they share with Treuchtlingen. Loser Zwickau dropped to the seventh position with four games lost. Coburg will face league's second-placed TSV Troester in Breitenguessbach in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Zwickau will play against the league's leader Bad Aibling (#1) and hope to win that game.
