There was no surprise when bottom-ranked Sirius TgM (0-6) was crushed on the road by fifth ranked Galati (5-3) 91-64 on Sunday. The game without a history. Galati led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists comparing to just 8 passes made by Sirius TgM's players. The game was also dominated by American players. The best player for the winners was guard Erica Covile (185, college: Temple) who scored 26 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line). Guard Katie Rutan (173-90, college: Maryland) chipped in 20 points and 6 rebounds. Four Galati players scored in double figures. Guard Tear'A Laudermill (175-92, college: Nebraska) produced a double-double by scoring 19 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists and guard Cherise Daniel (180-87, college: Ohio St.) added 22 points and 8 rebounds respectively for the guests. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Galati have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain fifth position with 5-3 record. Newly promoted Sirius TgM still closes the standings with six games lost. Galati will face higher ranked Sf.Gheorghe (#3) in Sfantu Gheorghe in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Sirius TgM will play on the road against Iasi (#8) in Iasi and hopes to get finally their first victory.
