Regular Season Round 12: Silute - Suduva-Mantinga 85-89

An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Silute. First ranked Suduva-Mantinga faced 4th ranked Silute. Guests from Marijampole (10-2) defeated host Silute (8-4) 89-85. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Silute. It looked good early as Silute took a 1-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then Suduva-Mantinga had a 28-22 second period charge getting the lead and Silute was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 85-89. Suduva-Mantinga made 27-of-30 charity shots (90.0 percent) during the game. Silute was plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a good game for guard Evaldas Saulys (190-93) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 10 rebounds (went 15 for 15 at the free throw line !!!). Forward Marius Valukonis (198-88) contributed with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 12 rebounds for the winners. Point guard Darius Kibildis (185-92) replied with 17 points and 4 assists and Modestas Zaunieriunas (185-94) added 19 points in the effort for Silute. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Silute's coach Robertas Kuncaitis rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Suduva-Mantinga have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 10-2 record. Silute at the other side dropped to the fifth place with four games lost. They share the position with Telsiai. Suduva-Mantinga will play against Palanga (#9) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Silute will play against Zalgiris II (#10) in Kaunas and hopes to get back on the winning track.
