Regular Season Round 6: Gaziantep - Best Balikesir 88-80

Gaziantep has finally registered their first victory this season after five consecutive losses. They used home court advantage to defeat Balikesir (0-6) 88-80 on Saturday. Gaziantep made 18-of-21 free shots (85.7 percent) during the game. Balikesir was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. American guard Marcus Denmon (191-90, college: Missouri) scored 27 points (went 10 for 10 at the free throw line !!!) to lead the charge for the winners and the other American import point guard Will Cherry (185-91, college: Montana) chipped in 16 points and 7 rebounds during the contest. The best for the losing side was Belizean-American power forward Leon Williams (203-86, college: Ohio) with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 17 rebounds and American point guard Mike Green (185-85, college: Butler) scored 19 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Gaziantep (1-5) left bottom position moving up to thirteenth place, which they share with Trabzonspor. It was Balikesir's fifth loss in a row. Newly promoted team still closes the standings with six games lost. Gaziantep will face higher ranked Tofas (#11) in Bursa in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Balikesir will play at home against Trabzonspor (#14) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
