No shocking result in a game when sixth ranked Bayer Giants (5-3) beat 10th ranked Giants (2-6) in Noerdlingen 78-72 on Saturday. Goetz Twiehoff (198-85) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 12 rebounds. American Damon Smith (200-88, college: Mary) contributed with 9 points and 13 rebounds for the winners. Bayer Giants' coach Achim Kuczmann used a ten-player rotation saving starting five for next games. Jacob Mampuya (200-94, college: High School) replied with 19 points, 5 rebounds, 8 assists and 4 steals and American guard Terence Smith (193-91, college: Mississippi) added 19 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Giants. Four Giants players scored in double figures. Bayer Giants have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to fourth place in South, which they share with Karlsruhe BG. Giants lost fourth consecutive game. They dropped to the ninth position with six games lost. Bayer Giants will face BG Karlsruhe (#5) at home in the next round. Giants will play against Licher Basket (#6) and hope to win that game.
