Regular Season Round 9: Licher Baeren - Noerdlingen 108-103
Date: November 19, 2016
There was no surprise when 10th ranked Giants (2-7) were defeated on the road by sixth ranked Licher Basket (5-4) 108-103 on Saturday. However just five-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Licher Basket made 31-of-39 free shots (79.5 percent) during the game. Giants were plagued by 28 personal fouls down the stretch. American guard K.K. Simmons (191-93, college: Pikeville) stepped up and scored 36 points (!!!) for the winners and his fellow American import power forward Lamar Mallory (198-90, college: Glenville St.) chipped in 22 points and 11 rebounds. Mallory is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top summer league for players who want to play basketball overseas. The best for the losing side was American guard Terence Smith (193-91, college: Mississippi) with 28 points, 8 rebounds and 9 assists and Jacob Mampuya (200-94, college: High School) scored 34 points (!!!), 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Four Giants players scored in double figures. Licher Basket moved-up to fifth place in South, which they share with Karlsruhe BG and Weissenhorn. Giants lost their fifth game in a row.
