Regular Season Round 15: Silute - Petrochema 86-93

There was an upset when higher ranked Silute (9-6) was defeated at home by thirteenth ranked Petrochema (4-11) 93-86 on Friday. The game without a history. Petrochema led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They made 16-of-21 free shots (76.2 percent) during the game. Petrochema forced 19 Silute turnovers and outrebounded them 38-24 including 24 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was swingman Vytautas Pikalavicius (197-90) who had a double-double by scoring 13 points and 11 rebounds. Evaldas Aniulis (190-92, college: High School) chipped in 12 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. Petrochema's coach Kestutis Narusevicius used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the other side the best for losing team was American guard Brian Wanamaker (185-89, college: Texas Wesleyan) who recorded 21 points, 5 rebounds, 8 assists and 6 steals and Modestas Zaunieriunas (185-94) added 15 points respectively. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Petrochema maintains thirteenth place with 4-11 record. Loser Silute keeps the sixth position with six games lost. Petrochema will face higher ranked KTU (#8) in Kaunas in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
