Regular Season Round 12: Duzce Bld. - Gelisim 68-67

A very interesting game took place in Duzce. It ended with only one-point defeat on the road of higher ranked Gelisim (5-7) to fifteenth ranked Duzce Belediye (4-8) 68-67 on Tuesday evening. Duzce Belediye forced 19 Gelisim turnovers. Strangely Gelisim outrebounded Duzce Belediye 37-23 including 26 on the defensive glass. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. The winners were led by American center LaRon Dendy (205-88, college: Middle Tenn.St.) who scored that evening 8 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists and Mehmet Gorkem (-77) supported him with 10 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. Duzce Belediye's coach Timucin Meric allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. Even a double-double of 12 points, 16 rebounds and 4 blocks by Bosnian-Slovenian center Hasan Rizvic (212-84) did not help to save the game for Gelisim. Forward Murat Erensoy (201-91) added 14 points and 9 rebounds. Four Gelisim players scored in double figures. Duzce Belediye moved-up to thirteenth place, which they share with Mamak DSI. Gelisim at the other side dropped to the eleventh position with seven games lost. Duzce Belediye's next round opponent will be higher ranked Samsun (#6) on the road and they do not belong to the favorites in that game.
