Sixth-ranked Naestved (2-7) made lots of trouble for second ranked Bakken (8-1) in Aarhus on Thursday. Bakken managed to secure only two-point victory 78-76. However their fans expected much easier game. The hosts trailed by 8 points after first quarter, but they rallied back and won the game by 2 points. The best player for the winners was American-Trinidad and Tobago guard Devaughn Akoon-Purcell (196-93, college: Illinois St.) who scored 21 points and 9 rebounds. Senegalese center Michel Diouf (208-89) chipped in 10 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Four Bakken players scored in double figures. Guamanian-American guard Earnest Ross (196-91, college: Missouri) produced a double-double by scoring 16 points and 13 rebounds and Senegalese power forward Cheikh Sane (207-92, college: Marshall, agency: Octagon Europe) added 14 points and 6 rebounds respectively for the guests. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Bakken have a solid series of four victories in a row. They maintain second place with 8-1 record behind leader Horsens IC. Naestved lost fourth consecutive game. They dropped to the seventh position with seven games lost. Bakken are looking forward to face Svendborg (#4) on the road in the next round. Naestved will play against Stevnsgade and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
