Regular Season Round 12: Schwelm - Duesseldorf 87-79

Date: December 3, 2016
Rather expected game when 6th ranked Duesseldorf (7-5) lost on the road to fourth ranked SG Schwelmer Baskets (9-3) 87-79 on Saturday. SG Schwelmer Baskets had a 32-21 advantage in offensive rebounds. Duesseldorf was plagued by 30 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a good game for Lithuanian swingman Andrius Mikutis (194-88, college: John Brown) who led his team to a victory with 19 points and 8 rebounds. Naturalized American power forward Kristofer Speier (206-81, college: Lewis-Clark St.) contributed with 16 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Lithuanian swingman Paulius Kleiza (194-88) replied with 15 points and 7 assists and guard Alexander Goolsby (191-87) added 15 points in the effort for Duesseldorf. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Duesseldorf's coach Robert Shepherd rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. SG Schwelmer Baskets have a solid four-game winning streak. They moved-up to third place in West, which they share with Hagen BG. Loser Duesseldorf keeps the sixth position with five games lost. SG Schwelmer Baskets will face league's leader Muenster on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Duesseldorf will play against Herford (#9) and hope to win that game.
