Regular Season Round 12: Heidelberg USC - Koblenz 68-73

Everything went according to plan when fifth ranked Koblenz (8-4) defeated on the road 13th ranked Heidelberg USC (3-9) 73-68 on Saturday. They outrebounded Heidelberg USC 39-25 including 24 on the defensive glass. It was a good game for British Louis Sayers (199-92) who led his team to a victory with 28 points and 5 rebounds. Austrian-Dominican forward Carlos Novas Mateo (197-92, agency: Mansfield and Associates) contributed with 16 points for the winners. Center Niklas Ney (208-95, college: Mercer) replied with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 13 rebounds (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field) and Morris Hintz (193-95) added 12 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Heidelberg USC. Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. Koblenz have a solid four-game winning streak. They moved-up to fourth place in South-West, which they share with Lich II. Loser Heidelberg USC dropped to the eleventh position with nine games lost. Koblenz will face Kaiserslautern (#14) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Heidelberg USC will play against Mainz and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
