Regular Season Round 9: Best Balikesir - Besiktas 75-91

Bottom-ranked Balikesir (0-9) is still winless. This time they could not use their home court advantage losing their ninth consecutive match to fifth ranked Besiktas (7-2) 91-75. Besiktas dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Balikesir's 30. It was a good game for American point guard Michael Thompson (177-89, college: Northwestern) who led his team to a victory with 22 points and 4 assists (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). The former international point guard Kenan Sipahi (197-95) contributed with 15 points and 6 assists for the winners. American point guard Randy Culpepper (183-89, college: UTEP, agency: Inception Sports) answered with 22 points and 5 assists and the other American import Austin Nichols (200-82, college: Humboldt St.) added 18 points and 7 rebounds (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line) in the effort for Balikesir. Five Besiktas and four Balikesir players scored in double figures. Balikesir's coach rotated ten players seeing no chance for a win. Besiktas moved-up to third place, which they share with Fenerbahce and Galatasaray. Newly promoted Balikesir still closes the standings with nine games lost. Besiktas' next round opponent will be Tofas (#13) in Bursa and are hoping to win another game. Balikesir will play on the road against TED Kolejliler in Ankara and looks forward to get finally their first victory.
