Regular Season Round 14: Nuernberg - Ehingen 90-83

Date: December 9, 2016
Everything could happen in Nurnberg at the game between two tied teams. Both thirteenth ranked Nuernberg and 12th ranked Ehingen/Urspringschule had identical 4-9 record. This time Nuernberg used a home court advantage and defeated the opponent from Allmendingen 90-83 on Friday night. Nuernberg made 17-of-20 free shots (85.0 percent) during the game. American point guard Diante Watkins (174-90, college: Robert Morris) notched a double-double by scoring 24 points and 11 assists (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line) to lead the effort and guard Sebastian Schroeder (192-88) supported him with 27 points and 5 rebounds. Even a double-double of 15 points and 12 rebounds by Tobias Jahn (204-86, college: Cal Poly Pomona) did not help to save the game for Ehingen/Urspringschule. American forward Daniel Berger (203-90, college: BYU-Hawaii, agency: Three Eye Sports) added 18 points and 5 rebounds for the guests. Four Nuernberg and five Ehingen/Urspringschule players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Nuernberg (5-9) moved-up to twelfth place. Newly promoted Ehingen/Urspringschule dropped to the thirteenth position with ten games lost. They share it with Baunach. Nuernberg will meet higher ranked Hamburg (#11) on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Ehingen/Urspringschule will play against Gladiators in Trier and hope to secure a win.
