Regular Season Round 14: Svendborg - Randers 97-63
Date: December 17, 2016
There was no surprise when 5th ranked Randers (6-8) were crushed on the road by third ranked Svendborg (8-6) 97-63 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Svendborg. Randers managed to win fourth quarter 21-19. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Randers to just 7 points in first quarter. Svendborg forced 22 Randers turnovers. They shot the lights out from three sinking 15 long-distance shots on high 53.6 percentage. Svendborg looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists comparing to just 4 passes made by Randers' players. The best player for the winners was Cameroonian forward Harding NaNa (203-81, college: Delaware) who scored 18 points and 6 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Nigerien center Amadou Aboubakar Zaki (214-88) chipped in 11 points and 7 rebounds. The former international swingman Chris Nielsen (193-85) produced 22 points and 7 rebounds and American-Belizean point guard Charles Burgess (186-84, college: Texas Tech) added 15 points respectively for the guests. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Svendborg maintains third position with 8-6 record having just one point less than leader Horsens IC. Randers lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the fifth place with eight games lost. Svendborg are looking forward to face SISU (#7) in Copenhagen in the next round. Randers will play at home against Horsholm and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
