Regular Season Round 15: Trier - Ehingen 80-73
Date: December 17, 2016
Not a big story in a game in Trier where 13th ranked Ehingen/Urspringschule (4-11) was defeated by ninth ranked Gladiators (8-7) 80-73 on Saturday. Gladiators outrebounded Ehingen/Urspringschule 38-27 including 16 on the offensive glass. The best player for the winners was American forward Ryan Nicholas (201-91, college: Portland) who scored 18 points and 9 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). His fellow American import swingman Brandon Spearman (196-91, college: Hawaii) chipped in 18 points. At the other side the best for losing team was Scottish forward Alasdair Fraser (201-92, college: Maine, agency: Court Side) who recorded 19 points and Tobias Jahn (204-86, college: Cal Poly Pomona) added 14 points and 6 rebounds respectively. Four Ehingen/Urspringschule players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. The victory was the third consecutive win for Gladiators. They moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Oettinger R. Newly promoted Ehingen/Urspringschule keeps the thirteenth position with 11 games lost. They share it with Baunach. Gladiators will meet Oettinger Rockets Gotha (#8) on the road in the next round. Ehingen/Urspringschule will play against the league's leader Mitteldeutscher BC (#1) where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
