Regular Season Round 14: Licher Baeren - Wuerzburg 85-87

There was a small surprise when tenth ranked Wuerzburg (5-9) edged on the road 7th ranked Licher Basket (5-9) 87-85 on Friday. It was a great shooting night for Wuerzburg especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 52.9 percentage. Licher Basket was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. American guard Marcellus Barksdale (196-93, college: IUPUI) orchestrated the victory by scoring 32 points and 6 rebounds. Center Georg Voigtmann (213-94) contributed with 16 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. American guard K.K. Simmons (191-93, college: Pikeville) replied with 23 points and 4 assists and his fellow American import power forward Lamar Mallory (198-90, college: Glenville St.) added 15 points and 11 rebounds in the effort for Licher Basket. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Wuerzburg moved-up to eighth place in South, which they share with Licher Baeren. Licher Basket lost fifth consecutive game. Wuerzburg will face USC Leipzig (#11) at home in the next round.
