Regular Season Round 23: Ezerunas-Karys - Petrochema 96-78

Bottom-ranked Ezerunas-Karys managed to get a fifth victory. This time they won against thirteenth-ranked Petrochema in Moletai 96-78. It's especially surprising that the victory came too easily and 18-point difference proves that Ezerunas-Karys was well-prepared to that game. Petrochema was ahead by 1 point at the halftime before a 48-29 second half run of Ezerunas-Karys. They dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Petrochema's 32. Ezerunas-Karys players were unselfish on offense dishing 28 assists. It was an exceptional evening for guard Dovydas Giedraitis (185-0) who led the winners and scored 21 points and 7 assists (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field). Albertas Valiulis (201-95) accounted for 18 points (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) for the winning side. Five Ezerunas-Karys players scored in double figures. Guard Ricardas Verbickas (191-95) came up with 20 points and Raimundas Zuklevicius (187-96) added 13 points and 4 assists respectively for Petrochema in the defeat. Ezerunas-Karys (5-17) moved-up to thirteenth place. Petrochema lost fifth consecutive game. They dropped to the bottom position with 18 games lost. Ezerunas-Karys will play against higher ranked Rasai (#4) in Raseiniai in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Petrochema will play at home against Palanga (#12) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
