A very close game took place in Hamburg between Nuernberg and Hamburg. Eleventh ranked Nuernberg (6-11) got a very close victory on the road over 12th ranked Hamburg (7-10). Nuernberg managed to escape with a 1-point win 84-83 on Friday evening. American guard Joshua Young (185-88, college: Drake) nailed 22 points and 7 rebounds for the winning side and his fellow American import point guard Diante Watkins (174-90, college: Robert Morris) accounted for 15 points and 8 assists. Nuernberg's coach Ralph Junge allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Despite that victory Nuernberg went down to twelfth position due to points difference. Hamburg lost their third game in a row. They dropped to the tenth place with ten games lost. They share the position with Uni Baskets. Nuernberg will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Hamburg will play against Kirchheim Knights (#3) and will have a slim chance for a victory.
