Regular Season Round 14: Schalke - Bochum 86-77

There was a small surprise when sixth ranked Schalke (7-7) won against at home 4th ranked AstroStars (9-5) 86-77 on Saturday. Schalke made 22-of-28 free shots (78.6 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists. American-Irish guard Patrick Carney (185-85, college: Chapman) orchestrated the victory by scoring 30 points and 5 assists. American guard Courtney Belger (187-89, college: Quincy) contributed with 15 points, 5 rebounds and 9 assists for the winners. Center Michael Haucke (210-85) replied with 17 points and 7 rebounds and American forward Davon Roberts (197-86, college: Azusa Pacific) added 18 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for AstroStars. Four AstroStars players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Newly promoted Schalke maintains sixth position in North with 7-7 record. Loser AstroStars dropped to the third place with five games lost. Schalke will face Rostock (#9) on the road in the next round. AstroStars will play against Recklinghausen (#12) and hope to win that game.
