Regular Season Round 15: Mainz - Koblenz 64-92

There was no surprise when 9th ranked Mainz (5-9) was outplayed at home by fifth ranked Koblenz (9-5) 92-64 on Saturday. Koblenz dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to Mainz's 34. Koblenz had a 22-11 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a great evening for Croatian point guard Zeljko Novak (184-89) who led his team to a victory scoring 22 points and 5 assists. British forward Shore Adenekan (205-92, college: Seattle) helped adding 14 points and 8 rebounds (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field). Four Koblenz players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was guard Christian Zander (188-85) with 16 points and Maximilian Befort (199-94) scored 10 points. Mainz's coach gave up on the game allowing to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. Koblenz moved-up to fourth place in South-West, which they share with Karlsruhe SC and Lich II. Loser Mainz keeps the ninth position with nine games lost. Koblenz will face Fellbach (#7) at home in the next round. Mainz will play against Kaiserslautern and hope to win that game.
