Very important is a road loss of third ranked Artland Dragons (9-5) against eleventh ranked Herzoege Wolfenbuettel (4-10) on Saturday night. Visiting Artland Dragons were defeated by Herzoege Wolfenbuettel in Wolfenbuettel 87-69. Herzoege Wolfenbuettel dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Artland Dragons' 30. They outrebounded Artland Dragons 36-21 including 29 on the defensive glass. American center Khalil Kelley (203-91, college: Pacific) notched a double-double by scoring 26 points and 11 rebounds to lead the effort and the other American import guard Demetrius Ward (188-90, college: W.Michigan) supported him with 22 points, 6 rebounds and 9 assists. Ward is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Herzoege Wolfenbuettel's coach used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. Even 19 points by naturalized American point guard Matthew Reid (185-84, college: Cameron, agency: Octagon Europe) did not help to save the game for Artland Dragons. Naturalized American Chris Frazier (182-90, college: Dubuque) added 14 points for the guests. Herzoege Wolfenbuettel maintains eleventh position in North with 4-10 record. Artland Dragons lost third consecutive game. They keep the third place with five games lost. They share the position with Iserlohn and Bochum. Herzoege Wolfenbuettel will meet higher ranked Itzehoe (#8) on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Artland Dragons will play against the league's second-placed Oldenburg (#2) and will have a slim chance for a victory.
