There was a surprise result when thirteenth ranked Ehingen/Urspringschule (5-12) beat on the road 4th placed MLP Academics Heidelberg (11-6) 80-71 on Sunday. Ehingen/Urspringschule made 25-of-28 free shots (89.3 percent) during the game, while MLP Academics Heidelberg only scored five points from the stripe. American point guard Devon Moore (193-89, college: JMU) orchestrated the victory by scoring 16 points and 5 assists (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line). Tobias Jahn (204-86, college: Cal Poly Pomona) contributed with 13 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Ehingen/Urspringschule's coach Domenik Reinboth used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. American point guard Vance Hall (193-91, college: Bellarmine) answered with 14 points, 5 rebounds and 9 assists and Croatian point guard Hrvoje Kovacevic (190-86) added 19 points and 4 assists (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field) in the effort for MLP Academics Heidelberg. Four MLP Academics Heidelberg players scored in double figures. Newly promoted Ehingen/Urspringschule maintains thirteenth place with 5-12 record. Loser MLP Academics Heidelberg dropped to the fifth position with six games lost. Ehingen/Urspringschule will face higher ranked Chemnitz (#4) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. MLP Academics Heidelberg will play against Baunach and hope to win that game.
